Spring Portrait time is upon us! And trust us, you don’t want to wait too much longer. Here are a few reasons why:
- It’s not too hot. By the time Memorial Day hits, that summer sun is blazing and you don’t want to look like you’ve just finished an African Safari in your family photos.
- Everything is green and blooming. April Showers bring May flowers, but sometimes they can knock all the blooms off. The earlier in the season you get outside the more likely you are to have that great color that makes your portraits pop!
- Bugs. Although we often fight those dreaded inchworms, the real problems of mosquitoes and flies are not out in full force! The last thing you want to do is be swatting a mosquito when your child finally has that perfect smile.
- Lighting. Evening spring lighting is perfect for family portraits, and even better, your husband is going to be off work before we even need to begin the session. He won’t be able to use getting off of work as an excuse!
There are plenty of beautiful locations around our area that we are more than happy to travel to, including your own backyard (or front). Don’t hesitate to call! Check your schedule and call us today. Evening appointments are limited and will fill up quickly! And don’t forget to ask about our current booking special!

Throughout the years, we encounter other small businesses in the community that really seem to share our values of excellence in service and quality. We love to patronize those businesses and many times, our professional relationship becomes a wonderful friendship as well. Often these businesses work with us to offer specials to our clients and allow us to display portraits and literature in their offices or stores. With that said, we would like to share our friends with you. As the year goes on, we will be sharing stories of the partnerships we have formed with businesses in the area. We encourage you to check them out and of course, tell them you heard of them from Crider’s!
Our featured business partner for January is Daveste Vineyards of Troutman, NC. If you have not been to this local winery, you must check it out sometime. We first approached them when we saw the beautiful venue they maintain. We are always looking for new, beautiful places to photograph and we knew that this area would be perfect. It offers a beautiful landscape of vineyards and a rock waterfall complete with a bridge and floral landscaping. Daveste is also becoming a popular site for weddings and they host many events, including live music on most Thursdays.
If you’re looking for a place to spend a quiet afternoon, head just a little ways out to Troutman and step foot into this scenic oasis. Sample their wines, and grab a glass of your favorites to enjoy out on the patio or in one of their covered verandas. They do have a few snack items available, but bringing your own is also encouraged. The atmosphere is perfect for couples or a girl’s getaway!
If you would like to learn more about Daveste Vineyards, you can visit their website at www.davestevineyards.com.
If you are interested in learning more about family portraits sessions at Daveste Vineyards, be sure to call us soon. They book up very quickly in the spring and we want to be able to accommodate our most valued customers!
Now Scheduling Destination Family Portraits
Fall is the time of year when the weather is just begging you to come outside, be with friends and family and enjoy the beautiful creation around us! The temperatures are enjoyable and the colors of the autumn foliage paint a serene landscape to be adored by all! This is our favorite time of year as photographers, because we get to leave the studio and venture outside ourselves to capture your family in their elements. Unfortunately, many of our clients and potential clients believe that we are only studio photographers who stay close to home, but that is simply not the case. Our bags are packed and we’re ready to hit the open road with you!
For many years we have had the privilege of traveling from the mountains to the coast photographing our clients at places that are near and dear to their hearts! Do you enjoy a weekend college football game? We can meet you there! Don your favorite team’s gear or colors and have your family portrait taken right on campus! This is great way to capture a passion of your family.
There are many places along the Blue Ridge Parkway and various other areas in the mountains that we have traveled. Rent a cabin for the weekend and we’ll meet you there! Can you think of a more beautiful backdrop than the view from your cabin deck? And if the mountains aren’t your cup of tea, don’t worry; we’re up for anything! We’re always available for a sunset session on the Carolina coasts!
Thinking something more exotic, give us a call, we’re ready to head wherever the road (or plane) may lead us!

As promised for today, we are announcing our other magical session, called “The Magic of Christmas”! This designer set features a cozy living room that is decked with all the holiday trimmings. We’ve got a beautiful Christmas tree with garland, ornaments, ribbons, and plush furniture decor that will make you feel right at home.
Santa himself will be bringing his list to check to see if your child was naughty or nice. Plus, we will have milk and fresh-baked, chocolate chip cookies for your child and Santa to enjoy! Be sure to have your child bring a letter to Santa. And of course, Santa’s magic will light up the room with holiday cheer! These sessions will be held on November 6th – 8th. You do not want to miss out on your chance to capture those adorable childhood moments with Santa Claus!
A Magical Christmas at Crider’s ~Part 1
We are kicking off this Christmas season with a brand new session you are not going to want to miss out on. Our “A Frozen World” session is a once in a lifetime experience for your daughter to feel like a little princess! Similar to our Sugar Plum Fairies session, we are digitally embellishing the magical snowflakes that glisten off your daughter’s fingertips. We’ve created a custom, handmade set that truly captures all the enchantment of the movie.
The background also includes a frozen pond, wintery trees, and an ice castle in the distance. The dress your daughter will wear is a beautiful hand-sewn gown that we provide. Plus, we have dress sizes from 18 months to a child size 12. Limited sessions are available on October 23, 24, and 25th.
Let your princess sparkle this Christmas season!
This week we will be announcing all of our Christmas 2014 sessions. So stay tuned with our blog this Wednesday to see when Santa Claus is coming to town!
New Beginnings at Crider’s Photography
September 8th, 2014
Who said you had to wait until New Year’s to make a change?
Crider’s Photography has always been known for being the best in the business, capturing the perfect photo every single time. We also have been known for having exceptional customer service. We love getting to know each and every one of our clients. It has been amazing to be able to photograph a baby in the early 90s, and to be taking their high school senior pictures now. I mean, what a journey! YOU are so special to us! And none of these things are going to change. So what is?
We are re-branding, reinventing, and re-conceptualizing our business. We are shifting from our traditional roots and stepping up our game. We’ve created new gorgeous sets and ideas for sessions, such as A Frozen World. We scoped out a breath-taking, premier location site for family portraits this fall. We’re offering new products that are in high demand. Phillip Crider can transform an already fantastic photograph into an extraordinary masterpiece.
It’s a new beginning for Crider’s Photography. And we want you to stick along for the journey. We started this blog as a way to reach out to our clients. We want to know what you want in a photographer, and what types of products you’re in the market for. On this blog, we will be posting fun little articles, special promotions, senior spotlights, and most importantly, the stories behind our client’s photographs. We hope to inspire, encourage, and entertain you.
As Bob Dylan sang, “For The Times They Are A Changin‘ “. And so are we. So stop in or give us a call. We’d love to hear from you!
